Good day to you...I am currently up to my eyes in boxes and packing materials so I am getting no time in the kitchen of late. Blimey do I miss fresh food..lol. I am hoping to bring foodie recipes this next week so please bear with me? Today I had a small amount of time (whilst ML was busy reading Game of Thrones...*eye rolls* lol) to throw some things together. I hope you enjoy the collection of random vegan things that is todays posting...

Oh where to start...

A truth that has always been my personal train of thought. As a very small child I questioned the consumption of animals. My Mum said I rejected all meat based baby foods...and then as a toddler simply told her...Mum I do not want to eat animals. On some level I instinctively knew that just because everyone was doing it...it didn't mean it was right! That never left me...thankfully.

......well...we just do! lol

Would it be wrong to laminate this and hand to people before they get the chance to ask? No..not even sometimes? lol But wouldn't it be easier...

When I saw this tee I fell for it big time..would proudly wear this t-shirt...

This excellent vegan quote popped up in my email I knew I had to share it with you...One Lazy Vegan did a great job with its setting and Mr Bentham makes a sobering and honest point...

Vegan Freak Aluminium Ring via Etsy
I love unusual rings and this one I found on Etsy really appealed to me. I am indeed a vegan freak..and own that fact. lol.

You guys know me well enough by now to know how much I love tattoos...and I get giddy when I find a tattoo that combines two of my loves...so this Fire Lotus and Vegan quote tattoo practically made me pass out..lol.

Rain drops....Keep Calm slogan...did I mention the rain? lol Just threw this image in because not only am I vegan junkie..I am a rain junkie too!

*contented sighs*...vegan biker jackets and boots. I recently purchased one similar to this one but so far its been far too hot to wear it. But when it starts to cool no doubt I'll live in it. lol. The market for vegan clothing has boomed recently and now you can get vegan/fake leather items online so easily.

Yes I know its 2013..but don't let that take away from the sound statement...and finally I shall end this posting with a smile...and leave you in the hands of Gus...

lol
Right it's back to packing boxes for me...but thank you for stopping by and I hope your weekend has been a splendid one...

NB: None of the images used are my creation..all found during online searches. So therefore I take no credit for any of them but send thanks out to those talented folks who deserve it. ~R~

For me...this week has been tough. But there have been moments where I've smiled and discovered words of comfort, music that has made me feel high and miscellaneous things that have given me something to look forward to. And as I haven't a food posting to share I thought I would share a few of these things that have kept me this side of sane moments with you. lol.

*taking a breath*
I need Yoga and its philosophies in my life. But I physically haven't been able to do any form of real practice for over a year now and it's hurting me. I had also forgotten that I still have an important part of it all open to me...the breath in my ravaged body...and the mental focus. And this simple poster reminded me and it had quite a powerful effect on me.

Such a great name for a recipe!
I came across this recipe on Pinterest and the recipe name actually made me smile and even chuckle. Serendipity is one of my favourite words so to see it used in such an awesome way and with a recipe that I can't wait to try I Pinned it to my For The Love of Vegan Food board straight away. So thanks to www.dietdessertndogs.com for the smiles...and I can't wait to try the recipe out.

Airbourne ~ Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast
Well...how happy was I when I stumbled upon these guys. If you like AC/DC then you will almost definitely enjoy them. They are an Aussie rock band that are unashamedly rock and just so good. I was on a music high for hours after listening to as much of their music that I could access on YT. They reminded me why I am the rock chick that I am. And yes some of their songs are Cert 18 but you can be a feminist and enjoy great rock music too!

Breaking Dawn part 2
SPOILER ALERT!!!
If you haven't seen it yet...scoot down to the next item!
It was recently our anniversary and my sister snuck in a belated present. The Breaking Dawn part 2 DVD. So ML and I finally sat down to watch the end of the series. I never got around to reading Breaking Dawn so the last movie and this one was a mystery to me.  So what did I think? Well firstly can I just say....CGI baby/children faces? With the budget they would've had to make this movie...I felt it could've been a lot better. In fact it freaked the bejesus out of me and it just wasn't convincing at all. Such a shame. And the whole film felt really rushed...but then when you split a book into two movies then I guess something has to give.

However...I did love the introduction of all the new characters, the mystery of Alice & Jasper's departure (ML aka Alice junkie..said That it was obvious Alice was going to save the day...lol *eyeroll*), the battle scene was righteous, the frustrating sudden twist in the story and did I mention there were vampires and werewolves? lol. But one thing that both of us liked and respected was that instead of a list of cast...at the end of the movie they went back to the beginning of the series and every character was given a face and actors name. Nice touch.

Total rock and roll, eh? lol
Rock n Roll or what? lol. We found these little beauts on a recent crawl around a shop. I did resist buying some as I don't get on with earbud earphones...but they did make me smile.

Thirty Odd Foot of Grunts ~ Hold You
When I first heard the growly voice of Crowe I knew I was a gonna like the Grunts..lol The songs are great and I have enjoyed the one album I have. This song in particular and it seems to have popped up on my play list on my Pod a few times this week. Making me both smile and think lol. Dammit..lol

J.R.Ward *bowing*
One of my favourite authors J.R.Ward is about to release the latest in her Black Dagger Brotherhood series. They are pure escapism for me. When I need the world to shut the hell up and music isn't doing it...I can take one of her books from my shelves and disappear between the covers.

But this one is very special hence the clue in the title, Lover At Last is the story of two regular characters Quinn & Blay. The Brotherhood are warriors and throughout the series, one of the brothers story is told...and in the background has always been these two characters story of fighting their love for each other.

And from what fans are told..the powers that be were not happy for them to have a book to tell their story...until now. I know that when this comes out in paperback I shall lock myself away for two days and revel in the highs and lows of their story. Because all the BDB fans have waited such a long time for this. It's gonna get bloody...it's no doubt gonna make me cry at times...and there will be many laughs and I cannot wait. So I shall be marking the days off until it's released here...something to look forward too.

Holly Williams ~ Three Days in Bed
This week I found Holly Williams. And yes she is indeed the granddaughter of Hank Williams. Her music is at times emotive, dragging you back to places in your past. Other times light and you feel your heart lift with hers. And everything in between those places. She tells beautiful stories with her song writing and her voice is both enchanting and gritty...for me that's a great thing. I have enjoyed listening to two of her albums this week and very happy I found her music..whilst searching for something completely different entirely..lol.

I need this cookbook for my collection..lol
I collect cookbooks...this you know, right? And when this one was released I knew I wanted...no..needed it. lol. I made a decision to do a long running review on my blog. Starting at the beginning of the book with recipe one and work my way through them all..giving over one day a week of the blog to this. I've seen many people's reviews and the photos of their efforts and enjoyed them. So when I do pick up a copy I shall be joining the masses in this sandwich making fun.

Wise words
This has been my mantra this week...however, it does work most of the time...but even this rain loving freak is getting really fed up with being sodden everyday. Oh well..whilst it's raining on me it's leaving someone else alone, eh?

I am no lover or supporter of guns. But when this came through on VeganCartoons feed this week it really did make me laugh. The right to hunt and the fur trade make me crazy angry and saddens me. But this makes a great point in a funny way. Loved it....

Thanks for stopping by...and I hope our Friday is a fantastic one..

ML is deep in birthday cake making...so I will be back tomorrow with the latest creation for our little niece Noo...who is turning 4 but acts 14! Urgh..where on earth is the time going? lol.

Happy Halloween 2012 Folks...

Things are a little busy here at the Rocket & Roses HQ...we are going on holiday. I know..can't wait. We are travelling over to Manchester tomorrow so ML can enjoy a gig for that little known band...MUSE, is it? lol. You heard of them? Then we are travelling from there across to Wales. Not feeling that great right now but being away from the town we live in and our regular routine is going to be great. ML really needs this break more than I do so books have been purchased for those inevitable bad weather days. I know I will become a book widow for most of this holiday...but it is a recharging batteries type of holiday. So it's all good.

What are your plans for this Halloween? We celebrated at the weekend with the little one M for his birthday so tonight we shall be packing like maniacs on door duty during the evening for the local treat or treaters. I miss the days of the Halloween parties and when I'm well I look forward to enjoying them again.

I found these vegan Halloween items during an on line search and they available at www.bigcityvegan.com

Love it! lol

I would love this bag...so cool.

Great eh?
And this t-shirt was great and the design is also on a cap, a phone and a mug!...lol

And what posting of mine would it be without a little humour, eh? lol I think I may have posted one of them before but it's worth posting again...

Good old worthy humour..lol Love it..lol

And I am fairly certain I have posted this before....but it still makes me chuckle...so here it is...I wish you a safe and happy Halloween...

Thank you for stopping by and I will be back soon from the road trip...and Trustworthy is going be visiting soon...

NB: All images used were found online...so I take no credit for their creation but I send out thanks to whoever did.

Starting the week off smiling...

Rocket & Roses HQ Play List:

Maroon 5 ~ Songs About Jane Album

Laughs and smiles are needed in the Rocket & Roses HQ right now. Yesterday we found many when we met up with some friends for a late lunch. The hours zipped by as we caught up, teased and laughed together. We have some pretty serious health issues going on amongst our circle of eight so to be able to laugh freely and forget about it all was such bliss.
I hope your weekend was filled with many moments of laughter.

So that inspired me to put together a posting that will encourage a smile or two and hopefully a giggle.

Tattoo design????
I found this picture during a search for something completely different...wasn't even a vegan search but pop up it did. lol. Obviously meant to be eh? I love it and think it would make a great tattoo. It made me smile so it was in....lol

It's true...in a very supportive way naturally! lol
Have to say this made me laugh so hard when I read it..I almost choked on my drink. lol. I think anyone who knows me will appreciate this one. But I think it's always a good message to pass on....laughter is vital to life.

Wehoo!!!
Now..I admit..it is a pet peeve that everyone assumes all a vegan eats is tofu and lettuce. But when I saw this little badge it really made me smile. Cute..lol

Fair point! lol
I loved this cartoon. Being a life long veggie...yep...Life.Long...I had a similar conversation with my Mum. I think I was about 5 and asked her why all the fairy tales seemed to have 'horrible' veggies...and I remember her laughing and replying "Well meat eaters would pitch a fit if it was the other way around cherub..." I didn't understand at the time but never forgot that moment. Mum used to make up stories every night for me and the fruits and berries were always magical and healing...I liked her stories much better than any that came in a book.

Cyndi Lauper ~ Stay
One of my recent 1p bargain CD's yielded a great tune..we went to watch my kid brother play Ice Hockey on Saturday evening and on the car CD player we listened to Cyndi Lauper's At Last album. A very good album and some very emotive performances by the uber talented lady. But this track is one of my favourite songs and was arranged in such a way that we were both singing our heads off and laughing too. I know when this comes on my Pod when I'm back in the kitchen, I shall be taking a brief break from kitchen work to dance around the kitchen with a pan and wooden spoon. Be warned it's addictive...so for many smiles...it's in.

So that's got the week off to a smiley and happy start...let's hope it continues this way. Thank you for stopping by and I really hope your Monday is a great one folks...

A Thought and A Smile...

Rocket & Roses HQ Play List:

Skin ~ Skin Album

My fridge finally had to go at the weekend after the door floored me for the final time late last week. So I haven't made it into the kitchen yet as there is a small amount of work that needs to be done in there before the new fridge (super green Eco fridge that should cost only £15 a year to run! Should? We'll see eh? lol) can be installed. So I am trying very hard to be patient...yeah..me! lol. Anyway...

So today I have brought you some wise words from the very excellent Charlie Chaplin...which will no doubt become one of my mantras. And something to make you smile too..because to take on board the serious stuff..I believe a little humour to help it along its way, is very much needed.

And repeat..and repeat... *wink*
I loved the background photograph to this quote. And it can be easy to forget this simple fact...especially in the situation I am in.

OMG!!!!! No!!!! lol
Cute huh? lol. Wonder if my nephews would still devour peppers if they looked this scary...oh course they would..they would love it! lol.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your Tuesday is a very excellent one folks...and once again thanks for sticking with me...

A Little Vegan Humour...

Lounge Play List:

Terrorvision ~ Middleman
Doris Day ~ I'll See You In My Dreams
Bryan Adams ~ Let's Make it a Night To Remember
Bowes & Morley ~ On a Day Like Today
Sarah Washington ~ I Will Always Love You
The Pretenders ~ Kid
Bree Sharp ~ David Duchovny
Rascal Flatts ~ Life is a Highway
The Cure ~ Friday I'm in Love

I'm sadly without words today..again...and for a writer it's a real bitch pain. So I shall share the following images with you, to hopefully make you smile and giggle like they did me. I take absolutely no credit for any of them as I found them under a search for vegan humour. But I am grateful to those who did create them...

I need this apron..lol. It can be purchased from zassle.com
I loved this apron..you can also get caps, bags and the usual logo stuff. I never need a new apron..but I would just like one..lol.

This cracked me up...quite clever....

lol
This reminded me of King Solomans Mines with Richard..erm..Ooops forgotten..and a very young Sharon Stone. Chamberlain! Richard Chamberlain...that's the fella. Don't ya hate it when you do that? You don't do it? It's just me? Sheesh. Anyway...funny movie..

This one was my favourite by far...lol
When I have been creating new soup recipes..it has been joked (I hope! lol) that I am concocting a new brew or potion...so I totally relate to this picture. lol.

So seeing Thursday in with a little vegan humour and cuteness. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be feeling a little more like me again...

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your Thursday is a good one?
